Dynamic Processing application that can be used to parse any text and show interesting relationships between words that appear often. In this case, I'm using it to do a little analysis on some of Dubya's speeches. In particular, a speech he made in October of 2002, when he was trying to convince Americans of the need to go to war. It's interesting to watch the repetitions of words like weapons and nuclear, and how often he mentions terrorism and Iraq. I think this sort of visualization of speeches we all think we've heard the likes of all too often can reinvigorate their meaning and context. I've worked to make the number of repititions of words effect the way they move around each other, while keeping everything organic and dynamic.

Research:

Parsing the State of the Union is a great piece - beautiful information design within a very relevent political context. This got me thinking more about the best way to display what I think is the important information, while keeping things simple, and trying not to be too biased but let the form speak for itself.

Unlekker's work has a very organic feel. The generative art of Reas, Unlekker, Tom Carden, Quasimodo, Toxi, especially the really natural forms is also inspiring. I wanted to try and get some of this feel into the piece, so the viewer feels they're watching something unique and fluid.

Prototype:

I created this prototype...

From there, I wanted to create something more natural-looking and acting... You can go to my ICM updates page to read more about that process and my lists of things I wanted to do.
