Submersible Design

A short selection of my projects:

Botanicalls: Facilitating plant-nature relationships through technology. Plants communicate their needs by placing phone calls, and people can call plants to learn more about them. It works through sensors, microcontrollers, and wireless technology, plus an Asterisk-based phone system. A collaborative project at ITP.
water Plantopia: Museum Design and Interactive Education: Plantopia was part of my thesis. The project is a museum concept that examines how interactive new media can be further used to educate people about environmental issues, specifically plant science.
Sustainable Art & Technology Research: I served as Sustainability Facilitator at Eyebeam, helping to curate programming and develop collaborative projects about sustainability through art and technology.
The Meatrix: I am Co-Executive Producer of the online flash animation and Webby Award winning web designer for the Meatrix website. My work on the project includes design, illustration, project management, art direction, script editing, interaction design, and marketing.
Interaction and Animation for Non-Profits: Project Management and Creative Direction for a variety of multimedia projects. Includes work for the Audubon Society of New York and American Museum of Natural History. I served as Art Director for Sustainable Table and GRACE 2001-2006.
Imps: Interactive animated environment created with Flash, Max MSP & Jitter, and camera tracking. A community of 3-inch shadow figures react to your movement and voice.
Live Video Performance and Installation: With the Glass Bead Collective, live manipulation of video on inflated environments.
Design and Illustration: Rebecca has created hundreds of illustrations and designs for clients. Here are some illustration examples. Here's a meditative little flash interactive for you.

My social facts class with Clay Shirky has provided a great background for thinking about the future of Web 2.0 and user-focused design.
